In Dante’s Middle Ages, a now opulent and corrupt Church stifles all dissent through the Inquisition. Only a brave few dare to break its dogmas and taboos, like the young Margaret, who joins Dolcinus, an idealistic and radical preacher. Together, they create a community that never existed before, based on equality, brotherhood and freedom. When the Pope’s crusaders attack it, the two lovers and their followers resist, willing to brave the stake to defend a utopia that will become legend.
