Kitantara – Little Stories

Alessandro Borrelli

Genre: Documentary

Synopsis

Kitantara, in Madagascar, means “little stories,” but it is also the play of children who recite aloud, with the help of stones as characters, stories of everyday life.

Don Silvio, a priest and magician, accompanied by “three magicians without borders,” travels from north to south across Madagascar to listen to the stories, hopes and dreams of the children and bring funds to build a school in Toliara, in the south of the island: an area with the highest illiteracy rate. During the journey, valuable testimonies are collected from those who, missionaries, volunteers, teachers, artists, every day, work in contact with the children of the island known worldwide more for its nature, lemurs and chameleons, than for its social reality.
