A ballad set within Milan’s Chinese community. Milan’s Chinatown — one of the oldest and largest in Europe — is a complex and tense place, marked in recent years by episodes of violence that have unfolded even in broad daylight.

Everything begins when an Italian man asks a Chinese woman to marry him, triggering a chain reaction within the community.

From this intimate gesture, the film opens into a broader reflection on identity, mistrust, and the fragile relationship between China and the West. Through the lens of Milan’s Chinatown, it becomes a universal story about fear, belonging, and the desire for a different future.

A film born from rare, direct access to the Chinese community, by an Italian director who speaks Chinese.
