Northern, Western Alps. World War II officially ended in Italy on April 25, 1945, but De Gaulle’s French army attempted to invade northwestern Italy to annex some territories. Only an unusual alliance between fascists and partisans on two different fronts would save the Italian borders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
